My name is Theresa Rizzo and I'm a self-taught dimensional stone artist.

 

My process evolved from years of hands-on experimentation, learning exactly how different stones and minerals react to the diamond blades and burrs. Inspired by my Italian heritage, my technique reimagines the ancient art of Pietra Dura with a modern, 3-D approach to working with raw rock.

Using a high-precision setup of wet diamond saws and rotary tools, I carve an expansive palette of minerals. I personally source my materials during mountain hikes with my husband and at the international Tucson and Denver Gem Shows, selecting everything from hard granites and jaspers to vibrant amethyst and fuchsite.

By focusing on the face of the stone and leaving the margins raw, I create structural, wall-mounted mosaics and standalone display art designed to elevate luxury rustic interiors.

 

Featured in Mountain Living Magazine and showcased in fine art hubs like Aspen, Colorado, every piece is a unique partnership between the earth’s natural geology and my own vision.
